Berkeley Pines Care Center provides beds for 36 clients, as well as amenities such as cable TV, housekeeping and a beauty shop. Though the primary language is English, Spanish and Tagalog are also spoken. The center accepts a number of insurance carriers.
The California Department of Rehabilitation assists those with disabilities in finding employment and living independently. Its services include job counseling, training and education, as well as assistance for the blind and visually impaired. Counselors work with individuals to determine eligibility, conduct needs assessments and create individualized plans for employment. Since 2010, the Berkeley Branch Office has been located in the Ed Roberts Campus, a building specially designed for accessibility to people with disabilities.
