Established in 1943, Lakeside Church of Chicago moved to Skokie in 2002. The church is home to many Japanese American's as well as multi ethnic members. Lakeside Church is a non-denomination religious institution.
The B'nai B'rith Beber Camp aims to challenge attendees and foster individual and community-based growth in a fun way. There is also a focus on nurturing Jewish identity in a safe, positive and diverse environment with exceptional professional leadership. For more than 30 years, Beber has offered a residential, coed camp. The private campsite, located on 380 acres with shoreline on beautiful Lake Beulah, allows campers ages seven to 17 to explore and experience a stimulating, enriching summer where wonderful memories and lifelong friendships are created on a daily basis.
Gan Yeladim is a Jewish early childhood program for children ages 2 to 5. The school offers both an all inclusive daycare program and half-day programs. Gan Yeladim places emphasis on understanding and meeting the needs of the young child in a warm, nurturing and Jewish environment, where trust and positive self-esteem are fostered. Judaism is integrated into the overall curriculum, and the school is committed to instilling a strong sense of Jewish identity in the children it teaches.
The Mizrachi-Hapoel Hamizrachi movement is an ideological and educational force for Jewish communities and youths. It has roots going back more than 100 years. The movement focuses on educating, providing cohesion, working toward unity, strengthening values and preventing assimilation. It supports youth groups and other activities for its members.
A private co-ed school, St. Peter Catholic School is Roman Catholic affiliated and serves about 160 students in grades kindergarten through the eighth grade and also has a preschool. The actual school is located across the parking lot of Skokie's historic St. Peter's Catholic Church, a beautiful church located in downtown Skokie.
Established in 1957, the Skokie Valley Agudath Jacbob is the oldest synagogue in Skokie. It is also the only synagogue that holds a traditional service and orthodox service daily. The Skokie Valley also holds two services daily, 365 days a year.
A mikvah is a ritual purification bath taken by Jews on certain occasions, such as before the Sabbath. The Chicago Mikvah Association is the administrative offices that oversee several local mikvahs. The CMA manages and maintains the buildings, offices and staff that house the individual baths.
