Cobb County Christian School is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian school operated by the Open Bible Tabernacle. Established in 1971, the school offers education from kindergarten through high school and uses the ABeka and School of Tomorrow curricula.
The John Knox Presbyterian Preschool offers a lovely and loving environment for children to begin their educational experiences. A founded organization under the John Knox Presbyterian Church, this school offers daycare as well as pre-K classes in academics, computer use, music, and creative movement based on experiential learning. A half-day program is also available for children.
Holy Family Catholic Church sits off Lower Roswell Road behind a hill. It provides Catholic worship services for all parishners with a desire to grow in the family of God. Mass is held daily. There is also a Communion hour, a Portuguese-language Mass and much more. Children's programs take place in the evenings. In addition, there fun concerts, festivals and other activities.
LaBelle Elementary School is a K-5 school south of Marietta that educates about 450 students. The school was built in 1955 and was last renovated in 2006 to update the building for space and technology needs. The school implemented the America's Choice initiative in 2002 to unify the staff and provide access to new strategies to improve scores in reading and math. As a result, the school attained Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) last year. The students, faculty and community embrace their mascot, the LaBelle Lion, and use it as an inspiration for high achievement and positive behavior. Lisa Hogan serves as principal for this Cobb County school.
Milton Davis Elementary School is named after Milton Davis who lived in Cobb County from 1853 until he died in the early 1900s. He was a farmer, cotton gin and mill owner and a carpenter. Davis was a trustee of the former Pleasant Grove School and his family has continued to be active in Cobb County education for generations.
All students in grades K-5 receive instruction in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and health, as well as art, music, and physical education.
The administration and staff at Davis have worked to create an environment open to parental participation. The Davis PTA is well supported, with objectives focusing on support of families and the education of all students.
Cumberland Christian Academy is a non-profit, independent Christian school with an elementary school in Austell, a middle school in Mableton and a high school at this location. Founded in 1989, Cumberland provides Christ-centered instruction through every grade level. Each year, the academy's junior and senior classes participate in a week-long mission trip.
