Founded in 1924, Thomson Elementary School was named after Albert E. Thomson, the first North Andover soldier killed in World War I. Thomson grew up on Waverley Road, where the school was first built. In 1999, the current building was constructed right next to where the original one stood.
Atkinson Elementary School serves kids in kindergarten through fifth grade. The school has instituted several innovative programs, including Raise the Bar, Raise a Star, which encourages kids to help build a respectful community. The fifth grade has a very active blog online, atk5thgrade.blogspot.com, for students and families.
Saint Michael School PTO is volunteer organization dedicated to increasing the social and financial well-being of the Saint Michael School. It raises funds for the school and develops an interactive community of parents, teachers, administrators and students and hosts events such as auctions, Christmas concerts, uniform exchanges and mini golf tournaments.
When the Annie L. Sargent Elementary School opened 15 years ago, it was the first new elementary school to open in North Andover in 38 years. The school is named after Annie Laura Sargent, a local legend in the town's educational system who served as a teacher, principal and School Committee member, and was the first woman ever elected to public office in North Andover in the 1930s. The school has 25 classrooms, a music room, gym, art room, library media center, technology lab, nurse's office, guidance office and more. The school serves children in grades kindergarten through fifth.
Kittredge Elementary School serves almost 300 students from kindergarten to fifth grade. The school emphasizes creativity and critical thinking, and parental involvement.
The Family Cooperative Preschool is an early childhood education program that provides a safe, nurturing environment while promoting physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of young children. The three-room schoolhouse is located on Osgood Street, in an open, natural setting. There is space for both indoor and outdoor activities, and for nature exploration and learning. It is a cooperative preschool, offering parents an opportunity for better understanding of the preschool child through parental involvement and participation in the program.
