Since 1928, North High School has been recognized for its academic excellence. The school was named among the best in the nation by Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report and boasts an average ACT score nearly three points above the state average. North students come from Woodridge, Westmont, Oak Brook, Lisle and Darien, as well as Downers Grove. Approximately 75 percent of the student body participates in athletics, theater, music or other school activities. North also offers a state-of-the art academic setting, featuring top-notch science and learning labs, classrooms, and fine arts facilities.
Lake Bluff Elementary School opened in late September 2009 after a referendum passage in 2007 that provided the funds for the $20 million, 82,000-square-foot school. As a result, East School and West School were closed.
Lake Bluff Elementary is part of School District 65. It hosts kindergarten through 5th-grade students and offers advanced placement classes. Students continue on to Lake Bluff Middle School and then to Lake Forest High School.
Woodland District 50 is the 7th largest elementary district in the state, serving nearly 7,000 students and encompassing 33 square miles. The district serves students in northern Lake County from Gurnee and portions of Grayslake, Third Lake and Waukegan.
District 50 schools serving students from early childhood levels through 8th Grade include: primary, elementary east, elementary west, intermediate and middle school.
