The Hammond Head Start Center is located next to the Imperial Beach United Methodist Church and is part an Episcopal Community Service (ECS). The ECS program is a free pre-school and child care program, funded by the Neighborhood House Association. The center accepts applications for children ages 5 and under.

Central Elementary School, home of the Sea Lions, is a school for kids from kindergarten to sixth grade and is a part of the South Bay Union School District.

The school's principal is Armando Lopez. Contact the school's front office for more information or meeting times for the PTA, English Learner Advisory Committee and Student Site Council.

Before school programs begin at 6:30am. After-school programs run until 6pm. All students are eligible, but students picked up late may be removed from the program. Students who leave the program early must sign early release forms.
