Located off Route 74, Mach 1 Music offers private lessons, classes and seminars in guitar, bass, piano, trumpet, drum and saxophone. Instructors have attended such programs as Berklee College of Music and the Hartt School of Music. Mach 1 Music also provides instrument repairs.
Global Driving School in South Windsor is one of two locations and provides a full driver education program for students ages 16 and older. The program includes 30 hours in the classroom, eight hours behind the wheel driving, and a two-hour parent/teen course. Between the two Global locations, there are many different scheduling options to meet your needs. It also provides pick up and drop off for driving lessons, and gift certificates are available.
The Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education oversee and set policy for the schools in town. They work with five public elementary schools, one middle school and one high school in town. The Superintendent of Schools is Kate Carter. There are nine members of the Board of Education and the chairman is David Joy.
The Children's Corner Nursery School is attached to the Wapping Community Church. The day care has full-time, part-time and before- and after-school schedules available. All of the day care staff has graduated from, or is enrolled in, a child development degree program. The staff is also CPR and first aid trained and is required to participate in periodic professional-development workshops.
