Led by Pastor Rich Link, the congregation at Main St's First Presbyterian Church celebrates services twice on Sunday mornings. Connections Group of Bel Air is a home-based business that offers a five-day training program in M (MUMPS) programming and database language. Trainer Susan Schluederberg instructs students in the fundamentals of M programming. Prerequisites include general computer skills; programming experience or prior experience with M programming is not required. Tuition is $1,500 per student and includes all fees and course materials. Both on-site and off-site trainings are available.
Teens and adults may take driving lessons from this locally-owned school, which is conveniently located across the street from Bel Air High School. The experienced instructors will make sure students have the vehicular knowledge needed to cruise the streets with confidence. Safety is stressed, with Premier's "Golden Rules": Don't tailgate, don't drive too fast, never drink and drive, and always wear your seatbelt.
In partnership with Harford Community College, the HCECA was developed in 1978 to train electricians in Harford County. Beginning its inaugural year with ten students, the HCECA is now the largest electrical apprenticeship program in Maryland with more than 300 students enrolled. The four-year program is a true apprenticeship--students must work full-time while attending evening classes two nights a week. Upon completion of the program, students receive their Journey-person certificate from the State of Maryland.
Sharing the same property as its high school, Patterson Mill is the newest public middle school in the county. Principal Wayne Thibeault and his school boast state-of-the-art facilities that give students the ability to enhance their education. The middle and high school both have an impressive student-to-computer ratio of 1:1.
Built in 1990, Ring Factory Elementary is located on Route 924. Principal H. Earl Gaskins maintains that the school's mission is "to provide opportunities to empower our students to become life-long learners and responsible citizens." A number of extracurricular activities are offered for students at the school.
Ever wanted to learn how to play the bagpipes? You can at this non-profit school of music tucked away behind John Carroll School. All other instuments including brass, woodwind, string, guitar and piano are taught here, too. The Conservatory offers private lessons as well as the opportunity to play with a group in the community via several ensembles. All ages are welcome here. At the Maryland Conservatory of Music, the staff believes that "Music is Magic."
