Trinity Prep School educates children from pre-school level through to middle school with a focus on academic, social and spiritual development. The school offers an accelerated learning environment based on the developmental level of the individual child. Classes are small to ensure more individual attention for each child. The school is split into two separate locations with the pre-school and elementary classes at the location on Hodges Street and the middle school located on Highway 78.
Located in the South Gwinnett cluster, J.C. Magill Elementary School was opened in Loganville in August 1996 to relieve overcrowding in Norton, Grayson and Britt elementary schools. The school was given its name in honor of J.C. "Chris" Magill, an officer with the Gwinnett County DUI task force and member of the local community who lost his life in the line of duty in May 1993. As a result of this, the school maintains a close partnership with the Gwinnett County Police Department. Forty-six percent of the school's student population qualify for the free or reduced lunch programs. The school has 91 classrooms, 10 portable classrooms, three computer labs, two art and music rooms, a large media center, two gyms, and a large cafeteria.
Youth Middle School has an enrollment of about 1,050 students. The school focuses on high achievement in the academic area, structuring the students' learning to provide for a smooth transition into high school. The faculty consists of veteran Walton County teachers who support the students' efforts to succeed. The school is a state-of-the-art facility with more than 65 classrooms and includes a cafeteria, gymnasium, media center, broadcasting room and computer labs. YMS extra-curricular activities include sports as well as FCCLA, FBLA and FFA clubs that have earned many gold ratings in competition at the state level. The YMS band has earned excellent and superior ratings at Georgia Music Educators Association performances.
Walnut Grove High School is the newest Walton County high school. It opened in 2009 and serves about 1,050 students. Seventy percent of the staff holds master's degrees or higher and more than 50 percent have more than 10 years teaching experience. The school offers a diverse curriculum in college preparatory and career technical programs as well as advanced placement courses. During its first year, the WGHS Academic Bowl team took second place in the region and since then has remained undefeated. WGHS offers a variety of clubs, sports and service organizations.
Rosebud Elementary School opens its doors to more than 1,000 students in the South Gwinnett High School cluster. The school serves grades kindergarten through 5th. It was constructed as part of the Gwinnett County Public School system's Phase 1 plan to accommodate population growth in the county. Students rally around their mascot, the Comet.
The home of the Cougars, Covenant Christian Academy is a private, interdenominational, nonprofit Christian school that offers education from a biblical worldview. The school instructs students from kindergarten through 12th grade, also offering college preparatory classes, a competitive athletics program and an award-winning fine arts program.
The Sunshine House is located on Bushy Drive in Loganville. It is a large daycare facility offering services to children aged 6 weeks to 12 years old. This daycare offers school readiness, preparing children to begin pre-school ahead of the game. Parents can manage its accounts online for added convenience.
Loganville Middle School has an enrollment of about 1,100 students, with more than 90 percent meeting or exceeding standards on the CRCT in reading, language arts and writing in 2010. The school has high participation in the FFA and FBLA programs and performs well at the state level. Eight students qualified for the Duke Talent Search in 2010 and nine students medaled at the state Math-Fest competition, with several students ranking nationally. LMS was named a Distinguished Title 1 school for 2009/2010, and the LMS marching band has participated in several prestigious parades, including one in Disney World.
Bay Creek Elementary School has an enrollment of about 740 students from pre-K to fifth grade. The public school is a 2005 and 2006 Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals' School Bell Award winner and a recipient of the Governor's Platinum Award for student achievement on the CRCT. In 2009, BCES was recognized by Georgia's state school superintendent for outstanding achievement in mathematics in third grade and has been recognized by the Walton Tribune's Reader's Choice Awards numerous times. The school offers chorus and archery programs, with students competing in archery at a national level in 2009 and 2010. Ninety-five percent of the BCES staff members have graduate degrees or are currently in graduate school.
Faith Academy is an alternative method to high school for students over the age of sixteen. The school uses an independent study program in which students can pick up assignments and take them home to be completed. Parental permission is required to take part in the programs. There are instructional classrooms online that can be viewed anytime.
