Established in 1956, the school serves K-6 and participates in various district-wide clubs/programs. This includes WINGS for gifted students, where kids are bused to Camp Avenue Elementary School to participate. The PTA runs a welcome-back picnic and end-of-year Fun Day. Special-education and ESL services are available.
Park Avenue Elementary School is part of the North Bellmore School District. It is the only school in the district that is in North Merrick.

In September 2006, the district announced its Meadowbrook Alternative Program initiative. This program is geared towards students who have difficulty succeeding in large, traditional high schools. MAP provides a small, structured setting where each student will have an opportunity to learn, grow, contribute and thrive.
Working collaboratively with Molloy College, MAP is housed in the Central Administration building.

The Merrick Union Free School District serves more than 1,700 students at its three elementary schools: Birch School, Roland A. Chatterton School and Norman J. Levy Lakeside School.
The policy for class size is as follows: grades K-1, 22 children; grades 2-6, 25 children; co-teaching, 20 children.
In addition to its full instructional program, Merrick provides extensive support services, placement of students with disabling conditions, psychological services, English as a Second Language, speech and hearing services, testing, social work services and health services. The Before School Program is in session at each elementary school in the district and is open on all school days from 7am until the start of school. There is a minimum of two days participation per week
The After School Program runs daily from 3pm to 6pm at each of the three elementary schools in the district. Time and assistance are offered for completion of homework assignments. Students are also provided with a variety of supervised activities which include arts and crafts, physical education and computers. Snacks are provided daily to the students. Children must attend a minimum of two days per week.

Old Mill Road School, one of three elementary schools in the North Merrick School District, serves nearly 500 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The average class size is 21 students.

The Bellmore-Merrick district serves students in the Merrick, North Merrick, Bellmore and North Bellmore communities. It was first established in 1934, and the current name was adopted in 1973.
Students complete their grades K-6 education in the four elementary school districts before attending Grand Avenue or Merrick Avenue Middle School. From there, it's on to Calhoun, Bellmore JFK or Mepham High Schools. The district also offers the Meadowbrook Alternative Program, geared toward students who have a difficult time succeeding in a large traditional school setting.
Advance placement courses are offered in every academic area, and gifted students may take part in the interdisciplinary Honors Program. A wide range of electives are available to students, as well. SmartBoard technology is available in most classrooms.
Programs that are offered to high school students include: Project Lead the Way, Senior Experience and Virtual Enterprise. Each high school has a Sports Boosters Club, PTA and there is a district drama program. Nearly 6,100 students attend the various schools in the district. Grace Christian Academy serves more than 100 students in grades K-12.

Calhoun High School, one of three high schools in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District, is home to more than 1,400 students in grades 9 through 12.

Sacred Heart Parochial School is a Roman Catholic private school affiliated with the adjoining church. The school is celebrating its 50 year anniversary in 2010. The school offers a full curriculum of subjects for nursery school students, up through 8th grade, along with the teachings of the Catholic faith. The school offers a summer camp program for Pre-K through 8th grade. A wide variety of clubs and afterschool programs are available. Hot lunch is offered daily.

The Harold D. Fayette Elementary School was built in 1950, and serves 300 students in K - 6th grade in North Merrick. Howard Merims is the principal of the school.
There is a PTA that handles fundraisers and also serves the community, through their coats for the homeless program and toy drives. The PTA sponsors the Fall Festival, and the end of the year Fun Day. Students may participate in a walking club at lunchtime.
Students who participate in the WINGS program, for gifted students, are bused to H.D. Fayette Elementary to participate in the program. The Bellmore-Merrick aftercare program is held at the school, for those needing child care (ages k - 6), for a fee.
The school utilizes smartboard technology in select classrooms. Also, ESL is offered, and special ed students are supervised through the inclusion program.
