Founded in 1949 by the Carmelite order of Catholics, the Transfiguration School is closely tied to the Church of the Transfiguration in Tarrytown. The school has approximately 240 students spread across grades Pre-Kindergarten - 8.

The planning team of parents included as partners the Stuyvesant Heights Parents Association, The Brooklyn Children's Museum and Children for Children. Brooklyn Brownstone is a public school serving grades PK-5. The school's principal is Nakia Haskins.

Built in 1969, Corpus Christi R.C. Church seems to dominate the skyline around it with its incredibly tall bell tower. The Nave is done in a classical style with blue cushioned pews and old-style chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.
A free parking lot exists at the Western end of the property as well as a larger lot across Willis Ave.
Although most passersby will only see the church from Willis Ave., the main entrance is located on Garfield Ave., with the entrance to the sacristy office around the corner.

Part of the Christ Lutheran Church in East Northport, Little Lights Preschool offers programs for ages two through four.
The program for two-year-olds includes story time, arts and crafts, circle time, music and finger play and outdoor play. The three- and four-year-old program includes language arts, calendar, weather, cooking, snack time and outdoor play.
Field trips are scheduled according to availability and are used to support curriculum units.
The students also learn about religious holidays, simple Bible stories, say a prayer at circle time and before snack and attend age-appropriate monthly chapel visits led by the pastoral staff.
La Cima is a public charter school that occupies the third floor of a large, four-story school building on the corner of Gates and Stuyvesant Avenues. The school shares the building with another charter school, BSS Charter, on the fourth floor and one middle school, M.S. 267, on the first and second floors.
The school opened in 2008 to 140 kindergarteners and first graders. In the 2010 school year, the school enrolled 273 students. La Cima Charter will continue to add a grade until it is fully enrolled as a K - 5 school in the 2012 school year.
The school does not screen its students. It gives geographic priority to students who live in the community school district and includes an application lottery.
