The Rockland County Sheriffs Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that promotes public safety, identifies and solves criminal cases and safeguards citizens rights. It operates a police academy that serves as a comprehensive center for police training. The office also maintains a jail that provides detention facilities for convicted prisoners and detainees in pending trials. Located in New City, N.Y., the Rockland County Sheriffs Department has a computer crime task force that handles issues related to business and credit card fraud, computer intrusion, and proprietary information and identity thefts. In addition, it maintains the Anti Terrorism Analytical Group (ATAG), which performs duties related to warfare information, security measures, critical infrastructure protection and political violence.
