The Erie County Sheriffs Office, located in Erie, Pa., offers services for the protection of residents lives and property, as well as deterrence, detection and investigation of criminal activities. It has a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team that specializes in bomb disposal and hostage and barricaded gunman situations. The Erie County Sheriffs Office also maintains a K-9 team that handles issues related to drug intervention, tracking, and searches for persons, buildings and evidence. In addition, the office operates warrant, civil, real estate, firearms, clerical, search and rescue, mounted and school resource divisions. The Erie County Sheriffs Office supports TRIAD, which is a community policing initiative between senior citizens, law enforcement officers and service providers.
