House of Chemicals was founded in San Angelo, TX, August 1965, by Mr.John Barnett and Mr. Gibb Saunders. Mr. Barnett was in the process of retiring from a career in the United States Air Force. Mr. Saunders was involved with Gandys Dairy. The two knew they wanted to go into business, but were unsure whether to open a chemical business or an ice cream business. The decision was made and they decided upon the chemical business. After 4 years, Mr. Gibb sold his part of the company to Mr. Barnett. The company continued to have steady growth. In the mid 1970s, they began producing a line of carpet care products. They were also distributing a full line of other cleaning chemical products, janitorial equipment, paper goods, and janitorial supplies. In the mid 1980s, John and his son David decided it was time to increase the line of products House of Chemicals was producing. The first product added was an all purpose cleaner/degreaser, ABSOLUTE. It is still one of the leaders in the line today. Next came a line of floor coatings and associated products. Today the line consists of some 60 different items. In 2000, the company decided to separate the production from the distributor, Presto Clean Systems was created. The name of the line of products has changed, but the quest for quality, innovation, and performance continues today.
