The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities advocates and coordinates services for senior citizens. The department operates several centers for senior citizens that provide aerobics, strength training, yoga and Tai Chi classes. In addition, the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities offers dance and movement classes, including ballroom, tap, clogging and square dances. The department offers various routine checkups for blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid, depression, glucose, nutrition, hearing, vision, strokes, osteoporosis and foot and several types of cancer. It employs pharmacists who provide consultation services. The departments staff also includes nurses who provide individual guidance to senior citizens.
