About CCEVA Founded to foster the development of wholesome family life in the community, Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia provides counseling for individuals and families under stress, and offers programs of education and prevention for strengthening family life. The agency advocates improvements in social conditions for individuals, families, the elderly and children. Catholic Charities is a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) non-profit human service agency. Established in 1932, the agency has a long term investment in improving lives in our Hampton Roads community. With eight offices throughout the Hampton Roads area, we provide caring services to all people of all faiths. Catholic Charities is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors who support our mission. Our annual revenue is generated through fees for services, grants, fundraising, individual and corporate gifts, memorials, bequests and the United Ways of South Hampton Roads, the Virginia Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg. Established in 1949 as the Robert Roesler de Villiers Foundation, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is one of the leading voluntary health care organizations in the United States. It supports blood cancer research, education and patient related services. The organization also provides the public, families and health professionals with information and referral services regarding leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin s disease and myeloma. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society distributes educational booklets, brochures and videos. It also offers financial assistance, as well as maintains several support groups for children, adults and families. The organization conducts seminars, workshops, meetings, webcasts and teleconferences for health care professionals. Headquartered in White Plains, N.Y., the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society maintains more than 65 office locations in the United States and Canada and maintains a presence in Alexandria, Va.

Since 1950, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a nonprofit health agency, has been dedicated to combat neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, medical and support services, and public health education. MDA provides a wide variety of services, including diagnostic and follow-up, medical consultations, flu shots, support groups, summer camps for youngsters, a medical equipment program, assistance with equipment repairs, and resource referral. MDA scientists have uncovered the genetic defects responsible for several forms of Muscular Dystrophy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease), childhood spinal muscular atrophy, and several other neuromuscular conditions.
