The Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank is a non-profit hunger relief organization that solicits and collects surplus food. Based in Dothan, Ala., the food bank stores and distributes food to agencies for feeding the needy people. It feeds the hungry people by soliciting, procuring and distributing excess food and grocery products. The Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank develops and monitors agency networks for proper distribution of food. It caters to Houston, Henry, Dale, Geneva and Coffee counties, as well as parts of northwest Florida and southwest Georgia. Additionally, the food bank serves churches, food pantries, soup kitchens, group homes and assisted-living homes.

Alfred Saliba Family Services Center, located in Dothan, Ala., is a public, nonprofit social services agency. Founded in 1994, it offers a wide variety of prevention and intervention services that focus on strengthening families. The agency s various programs include an intake and assessment center, a community career development center and Even-Start Literacy programs. Alfred Saliba Family Services Center also offers a child care center, an in-home visitation program, a family health clinic, and an Early Head Start program. The agency partners with more than 30 social service agencies, and is funded by the state department of human resources through the Family Preservation and Support Act.
