Toberman was founded in 1903 by James and Emma Toberman, a six term Mayor of Los Angeles, as a memorial to their only son Homer, who passed away at age 29 in 1902. The agency was first located in Echo Park, Los Angeles and was originally named The Homer Toberman Mission. As one of the oldest Methodist Mission projects, Tobeman provided an infirmary, a residence for single women, and youth development and prevention services. In 1917, the agency moved to Boyle Heights and operated as an original settlement house. Then, in 1937 Toberman made another move to the Barton Hill community in San Pedro and adopted a new name Toberman Settlement House. Since that time Toberman has kept pace with the changing and diverse needs of the Harbor community. In October of 2007, Toberman welcomed the grand opening of its newly built 36, 000 square foot campus and became Toberman Neighborhood Center. Tobermans new campus provides services to over 18, 000 people per year. Toberman offers a holistic approach to social services through three main areas of programming: Healthy Living & Learning, Community Resources, and Gang Intervention.

Justice For Murdered Children is determined to see that the scales of justice are balanced, that our murdered children are not forgotten and that the rights of the victims families are zealously protected. Across this great country of ours, families of murdered children have lost faith in the criminal justice system; they have been treated as a mere afterthought. It is time that these families get the support they so desperately deserve. For them it does not end when they bury their child; it is only the beginning of an everlasting nightmare. Justice For Murdered Children is committed to protecting our children from homicide. We are adamant about providing safe streets, communities and schools. Children can no longer live in fear of being murdered on the streets of the United States of America.
