Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity International, also known as HFHI, is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that aims to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world. The organization has built more than 200,000 houses and provides services to over 1 million individuals in nearly 3,000 communities in the world. It has more than 2,100 affiliates in over 90 countries worldwide. Habitat for Humanity International provides information, training and a variety of support services. The organization s resource centers offer skills training to construction workers and promote knowledge about traditional building practices. It provides permanent and transitional housing solutions for individuals vulnerable to and afflicted by natural disasters, conflicts and calamities.
