Community Action Services and Food Bank, also known as CASFB, is a nonprofit agency that offers a range of services for low-income individuals and families. Established in 1967, it provides various youth, family development, community, utility and outreach programs. The agency administers the State Home Energy Assistance Target Program, which includes the payment of heating and electricity bills for low-income households. Community Action Services and Food Bank offers short-term financial assistance and goal setting, case management and self-esteem training services through its family development program. It is approved by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and provides counseling services related to pre-homeownership, homebuyer education, mortgage, refinance and predatory lending. The agency has a tripartite board of trustees who provide direction and guidance to staff in the areas of community needs, future planning and fiscal oversight.
