Ollie Angel is a trendy spot for skaters and longboarders to sit at the skate bar and share their latest pavement tricks or falls. Skateboard brands for sale include Thrasher, Black Label, G&S, Skater Threads, Primitivo and Santa Cruz. The shop only takes cash at the moment and will install a flat screen TV in the skate bar soon.
Just a short walk from the breakers, Saltwater Magic sells toys for surfers and bikers. A large wall mural of a blue water wave covers the front of the shop and bicycles line the windows. The shop boasts a local following and is a go to spot for tourists.
Since 2007, Ollie Angel Skate Shop has been providing locals with skateboarding lessons, equipment and apparel. At Ollie Angel, the customer always comes first: If a product isn't currently in stock, the staff will order it for you. Ollie Angel builds custom-built skateboards using a huge selection of decks, wheels and trucks. It also carries skater apparel and merchandise. The store has two huge annual half-off sales: one on national Go Skateboarding Day on June 21 and another on Christmas Eve. Surf Hut has been an Imperial Beach surf fixture for almost 30 years. Surf and skate gear of all kinds for sale, and wetsuits, fins, surfboards and bodyboards are available to rent.
