Established in 1989, the San Carlos Youth Softball Association is 100 percent volunteer-run for the benefit of girls softball in San Carlos.
The association also has a travel team; the San Carlos Force Summer Program prepares teams for competitive tournaments.
Games are held at the fields on Tierra Linda Middle School.
Premier All Stars is a cheerleading program with a full-service gym including a tumble track, a trampoline and a spring floor. The program welcomes cheerleaders of all skill levels ages 4-18. No prior cheer experience is required. The facility supports an all-male team.
Yoga Health Center has been in the same location for 15 years, since 1996. Its yoga practice is Bikram only, meaning that classes are held in rooms that are kept at a temperature that falls between 103 and 112 degrees.
Classes are held every day. An introductory offer of "30 days for $30" is a great way to try out Bikram. All classes are 90 minutes except for two classes at 6 am on Tuesday and Thursday which are 60 minutes.
Dance Mode Studios are set to teach both traditional and contemporary dance techniques, from ballet and tap to jazz and hip-hop. They also foster competition, having made their way to the International House Dance Competition in New York.
Peninsula Fencing Academy, formerly First Place Fencing Club, was founded in 2003 and is located on E. San Carlos Avenue off Industrial Road. The facility offers a variety of classes, from beginning to advanced, as well as classes for women and corporate groups. The academy aims to provide a fun, yet competitive, athletic opportunity for the residents of the San Francisco peninsula.
The Affinity Badmiton Club hosts a junior elite team and summer camp groups, and is also available for corporate events and birthday parties. The family-owned facility has a pro shop and features special flooring and lighting to enhance the play experience.
West Valley Flying Club is a nonprofit school offering flight instruction. Since 1973, it has taught more than 10,000 members how to fly 65 different models of airplanes. There is an experienced team of more than 50 qualified trainers offering classes for novice and advanced pilots. The school offers 100% insurance coverage and three free FAA-approved seminars, as well as skydiving, camping trips and skiing.
Dance Arts Center offers classes for all ages, Monday through Saturday. Classes are offered in tap, ballet, hip hop, jazz and more.
Brittan Heights' condos and townhouses are located in the peaceful San Carlos hills, close to hiking trails and the scenic Edgewood Park. The association's Club House is available for residents' special events and features a kitchen, fireplace, ping pong and pool tables; the complex also offers 3 pools and 2 tennis courts.
Sensei Mike Drewniany brings a multidisciplinary approach to martial arts, rooted in the traditions of kung fu and kempo karate. The academy's specialty is weapons training, and students have the opportunity to perform at tournament competitions through out the Bay Area. Classes are offered six days a week for adults, Tiger Tots (3 - 4.5 years old), Pee Wees (5 - 7 years old) and Juniors (8 - 13 years old).
Studio Physical Therapy on El Camino Real combines manual therapy with pain management and exercise training as well as pilates to create a well-rounded experience for patients. Owner Erika Gould has a strong background in physical therapy, having graduated from Stanford University and giving lectures to physical therapists and physicians regarding her extensive work at St. Mary's Medical Center. At Studio Physical Therapy, Erika offers individualized private treatment sessions, pilates-based exercises and equipment, activity and pain management and manual therapy, all in a fully-equipped gym.
