It doubles as a yoga studio based on the teachings of yogi Baba Hari Dass, who has been silent for the last 50 years. The Ashtanga yoga system is taught here.

There's a large space for rentals and events, but the calendar is generally booked. The events include Congolese dance, Indian temple dance, Afro-Brasilian dance, Guinean West African dance, lectures and classes.

Opened in 1998, Simpkins Family Swim Center is one of the largest pools in Santa Cruz County. It is a part of the County of Santa Cruz Department of Parks, Open Space and Cultural Services. The swimming center has a 50-meter, 18-lane lap pool and holds nearly 600k gallons of water. Located in Santa Cruz, Calif., it also comprises four pools, a slide and a community center with kitchen. The pool is used for lap swimming, water polo, water aerobics and therapy/recreational swimming. It also provides a zero-depth entry ramp for easy wheel chair access. Simpkins Family Swim Center offers swimming lessons, hosts pool parties, provides life guard training and exercise to reduce arthritis pain.

The Mission of the Santa Cruz Yacht Club is to encourage and support yachting. We promote boat use by facilitating quality sailing competition through one-design, coastal and offshore racing. We will also encourage cruising in power and sailing yachts by hosting events which entice owners to participate. We maintain a clubhouse where members can gather socially, conduct the business of the club and have meetings related to yachting. We educate our members through lectures, junior sail training, racing clinics, and other means so that they will become proficient in racing, seamanship, cruising under sail, power and regatta management. We contribute to the good of yachting by hosting regattas and community events, offering reciprocal privileges to members of other clubs and by providing support to worthy yachting endeavors. With respect to the Mission Statement of the Club, the Santa Cruz Yacht Club entertains applications for membership from those who are actively involved in boating, whether on their own boats, or crewing on others boats. There are several categories of membership: Regular Membership which provides all the privileges of membership ; Corinthian Membership which is limited to those between the ages of 21 and 30 and carries limited privileges ; Junior Membership which is limited to those between the ages of 8 and 20 and also carries limited privileges ; and Non-Resident Membership which is a limited membership for those who live, work, and have their boat 70 miles from the Santa Cruz Yacht Club. The initiation fees and annual membership dues vary depending on the type of membership and are stated on the bottoms of the application forms.

Venture Quest rents kayaks for solo trips or guided tours in the Monterey Bay, around Santa Cruz, and up Elkhorn Slew. No experience is required, and kayakers setting out from the private dock on Santa Cruz Wharf often see sea lions, dolphins and even whales. The company rents single and double kayaks and gear, starting at $30 for three hours. Winter rentals are by appointment only, so call first. Kayak sales, kayaking classes and team-building workshops are also available.

Pasatiempo Golf Club features an 18-hole championship golf course, two onsite restaurants and meeting and banquet space. The golf course was designed by world-renowned golf architect Alister MacKenzie. Even though MacKenzie also designed Augusta National and Cypress Point, Pasatiempo was his favorite layout and where he made his American home, which still borders the sixth fairway. It is ranked #31 in Golf Digest s 2005 America s Greatest Public Courses, and also was named one of the top 3 courses in California. Pasatiempo s 16th hole has been named one of the Best of the West par fours by Fairways & Greens magazine. The onsite Hollins House hosts corporate meetings, banquets, weddings and fine dining. The golf club opened in 1929 and is located in Santa Cruz, Calif.
