Students and experts, old and young alike are welcome at Fencers School. Group and private lessons are available. Instructors offer summer fencing clinics, equipment rentals, and open fencing practice for students. Instructor/owner Matthew Catino is accomplished himself in the sport and has had many students go on compete at the college level as well.
On 30 acres of woodlands overlooking Lake Quonnipaug, the New Haven Sportsman's Club offers indoor and outdoor shooting. It has an eight-shooting-position indoor range, a 50-yard outdoor pistol range, and an outdoor high-power rifle range. Also offered are matches, events and cowboy shoots.

Rather than an unfriendly elitist atmosphere, the school seeks to imbue its students with a love of riding and a deep respect for the horses. There are different lesson plans, horses, and options for students depending on their age ability level, some come as total beginners, while others are experienced riders looking to compete.
Students at this martial arts academy, which also has a location in Durham, can choose from three different martial arts: taekwondo, hapkido and judo. It has classes for all ages, including adults, and it distinguishs itself by having a special program for pre-school students ages 3 to 5 called Tiny Tumblers and Small Samurai. It also has special services including birthday parties, events for parents and private lessons.
A bit off the beaten path, this public golf course is down Stepping Stone Hill Road off of Durham Road/Rt 77. This is a par-3, 9-hole walking course. It is just over 1,200 yards from the blue tees and offers great playability and impecable conditions. Pull-cart rentals are available. Open seasonally.
Sport and professional shooting enthusiasts can find what they need at this shooting range and firearm shop. The gun shop carries guns, rifles, ammunition and accessories and pistol classes are also available. The range offers 11 lanes with automated retrieval system.

Run by instructor Marlene De Santo, this simple yoga center provides Hatha yoga classes during the week. The focus is on stress management and breathing. Marlene also offers her program, "Surviving Stress Through Yoga," on video tape or DVD and also carries Shaklee vitamins and herb supplements. The center can be found in the back left corner of the shopping center, and a corner door leads to the second-floor studio.
This bright, clean and well-run karate studio has a team of expert instructors with more than three decades of collective experience. Three levels of classes are offered for children ages 4-14. There are also adult classes, which offer instruction on practical self-defense.
