Area Education Agency 267 is one of 12 area education agencies founded in 1974 by the Iowa legislature to ensure equal educational opportunities for all children. It provides support to local schools through its three divisions, including educational services, information and technology and special education. AEA 267 provides support in the areas of instructional materials, curriculum planning, practices in teaching and learning, educational opportunities, technology planning, professional development, assessment, special education and leadership development. It is funded by legislatively controlled property tax, federal, state and private grants and tuition for classes and has a nine-member board of directors. It comprises of 61 public school districts and 24 nonpublic school districts and serves more than 68,000 students. The agency is headquartered in Cedar Falls, Iowa with regional offices in Marshalltown and Clear Lake and nine special education sector offices throughout the state.

Founded in 1904, University Hygienic Laboratory, also known as (UHL), is an environmental and public health laboratory serving the residents of Iowa.
