Founded in 1970, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection manages natural resources and solves pollution problems in the state of New Jersey. The department has a staff of more than 3,400 employees and specializes in pollution prevention efforts and innovative environmental management strategies. Its divisions include the Office of Information Resources Management, Office of Green Acres, Division of Science, Research and Technology, and Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste. In addition, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection offers a range of recycling, flood control, medical waste, air monitoring and forest services. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is a part of the government of the State of New Jersey.
