Hawaii, known as the Aloha state is a group of 137 islands in the north central Pacific Ocean. The major islands are Ni ihau, Kaua i, O ahu, Moloka i, Lana i, Kaho olawe, Maui and Hawaii. Industries encouraged are science and technology, film and television production, sports, ocean research and development, health and education tourism, diversified agriculture and floral and specialty food products. Hawaii has a population of more than 1.2 million and became a state in 1959.
