Located on 60 acres, the Saline Fisheries Research Station includes 18 drainable experimental ponds, six raceways, a wet laboratory, storage space, an office, residence and meeting space. The station is used by the state's Department of Natural Resources to answer questions about warm-water fisheries and fish ecology. The facility also supports the teaching activities and the research of biologists from three universities. The swampy land was once home to the Springbrook Minnow Farm.
