The Epidemiology and Response Division is a part of the Health Department of New Mexico that tracks infectious diseases and health statistics. The division trains organizations in disease control, responds to public health emergencies and provides vital records services. It issues more than 228,000 birth and death certificates and registers over 28,000 births and nearly 14,000 deaths each year. The Epidemiology and Response Division provides vital records from hospitals, midwives, funeral directors, tribes and pueblos. Its Bureau of Health Emergency Management creates and develops programs dedicated to awareness, prevention, preparedness, response and recovery for the public, first responders, medical personnel and hospitals. Established by a constitutional amendment in 1904, the Courts of Appeal are Californias intermediate courts of review. It reviews final judgments of Superior Courts for prejudicial errors of law. The court has appellate jurisdiction when superior courts have original jurisdiction and in certain cases prescribed by statute, such as habeas corpus, mandamus, certiorari and prohibition proceedings. The Courts of Appeal have more than 20,000 filings. It also receives appeals from the decisions of the Workers Compensation Appeals Board, Agricultural Labor Relations Board and Public Employment Relations Board. The Courts of Appeal is governed by the Judicial Branch of California.
