Based in Hampton, Va., Department of Corrections is responsible for managing the operations of Commonwealths adult correctional facilities and operates about 50 institutions statewide. Its community-based corrections system includes 42 probation and parole districts, day reporting centers, diversion centers, detention centers, drug court programs and central support units that manage activities with local correctional facilities, interstate compact for probationers and parolees. In addition, Department of Corrections offers programs, including work, treatment, education and inmate health services, to name a few.
