Splash! Whack! For more than 50 years, Deepdale Gardens Community Center has offered Little Neck residents a place to cool off at its large L-shaped swimming pool as well as heat up at two tennis courts.
Conveniently located on Little Neck Parkway, Deepdale Gardens Community Center also boasts a hardball court, basketball court and fenced-in playground with three slides and jungle gym. The center's recreation facilities are open for the months of July and August only.
The Echo Park Pool Complex is a recreational facility open year-round to residents of the Town of Hempstead and visitors with the purchase of a daily, seasonal or annual pass. Discounts are available for residents, families, children and seniors. The park features a pool complex with indoor and seasonal outdoor pools that have designated lap swimming lanes. There is also a diving tank with three diving boards, including a high dive. Lifeguards are on duty all year long. Men's and women's locker rooms offer showers, a sauna and steam room, lockers and a small fitness area with cardio and weight training equipment. There is also a baseball field located on the premises. A snack shop, vending machines, tables and a common room are located on the second floor; organizations such as the West Hempstead Senior Citizens hold meetings, exercise classes and events here.
The Parkwood Pool Complex is part of the excellent Great Neck Park District system. It is a modern and recently upgraded complex which features a large main pool, an intermediate pool, a wading pool, a water playground a water slide and more.
This year, 2010, was the first year of the "lazy river" at Parkwood. Water jets slowly push tubes and even tandem tubes around a winding water path.
Parkwood Pool Complex also features a snack bar, first aid, bathhouses, lounges, numerous lifeguards and plenty of seating, in the sun or in the shade, is readily available.
Saf-T-Swim, located in the basement level of this East Meadow New York Sports Club has been teaching East Meadow swimming basics and techniques for over a decade. It has a full-sized swimming pool, locker rooms and a viewing room for guests to watch the lessons through. Lessons are offered for all ages and new registrations receive a discount. The pool is available for a variety of private parties as well.
The Douglaston Club is a private club that offers facilities and programs for use by members and their children. Over the years the Douglaston Club has turned out champion athletes from its sailing, swimming and tennis programs, some of which have gone on to see great success in the Americas Cup and other highly competitive organizations. Mooring and launch service is also available to members.
