The Hebrew School of Temple Beth Am offers Sunday school, and the Merrick Community Hebrew High School holds classes Tuesdays at 7pm. The High School is run in conjunction with the Merrick Jewish Center, Temple Israel of South Merrick and Ohav Sholom. Adult education classes are offered as well.
The Young Israel of Merrick was incorporated in 1987 by a core group of 17 families. Over the past 14 years, it has grown from 17 families to more than 55 full-time families. The fundamental purpose of the synagogue is: "To establish, maintain and conduct a synagogue for religious worship and prayer in accordance with the customs and traditions of the Orthodox Hebrew faith."
The Young Israel currently supports a full program of Jewish activities, including daily minyanim, weekly shiurim, education programs featuring scholars in residence and a youth program.
The synagogue is led by Rabbi Marc Volk.
Established in 1950, the temple offers Sabbath services, with the first Friday of every month (October through April) being a family service, where Hebrew school students lead the proceedings. There is a brotherhood and sisterhood, along with a youth group. The first Sunday of each month, the temple participates in Sandwich Mitzvah Day, where they team with area religiousl institutions to hand out bag lunches for the needy.
The Merrick Jewish Centre—Congregation Ohr Torah—was founded in 1929 and is the oldest congregation in the Merrick-Bellmore community. The centre is led by Rabbi Charles A. Klein. The cantor is Ethan Leifer.
