About NEI Founded in 1973, Nature Expeditions International ( NEI ) has been a leader in the field of educational adventure travel ever since. Every year, we send adventurers to over 25 countries on 5 different continents, both on land-based and adventure cruising expeditions. Our travelers are typically active, well-educated, North Americans aged 40 and over although many bring along their children and grandchildren. They seek participatory experiences that combine wildlife viewing, meaningful cultural experiences, soft adventure and upscale comfort. They travel as singles, couples, families and small pre-formed groups. Some opt for existing NEI tours, while others prefer "customized" tours designed to meet specific parameters. Based in Plantation, Florida, Nature Expeditions International is a member of the International Ecotourism Society, the International Galapagos Tour Operators Association ( founding member ), the African Wildlife Foundation, IGLTA, IATAN, Galapagos Conservancy and the Better Business Bureau ( where we have an A+ rating ). Eight Reasons to Travel with NEI Based on years of feedback, we believe that our tours compare favorably with those of our competitors in terms of the quality and creativity of our itineraries, their educational content, flexibility and the variety of adventure and cultural experiences offered. Eight specific advantages are discussed below: Advantage #1: NEI tours offer more adventure variety. Every NEI trip offers a choice of at least 3 different types of adventure. Sample adventures include hiking, bicycling, whitewater rafting, kayaking, horseback riding, swimming with dolphins, hot air ballooning, elephant and camel trekking, zipline canopy excursions, glacier trekking, game drives, canoeing and dune surfing. Travelers may opt for cultural or wildlife viewing excursions in place of any adventures that are not of interest. Advantage #2: Every NEI adventure is low-intensity, carefully tailored for active, healthy persons over 40. Some of our soft adventures are also suitable for older children or teenagers. Rafting excursions use class 23 rivers ( class 5 is most difficult ). Bicycling excursions use smooth roads with little traffic and minimal inclines. Kayaking trips take place in protected coves or tranquil rivers.
