Norfolk Tug Company operates nearly 10 tugs. The company has five model bow tugs, ranging in horsepower from 1,800 to 2,600 each. All have towing machinery, and each is capable of near coastal work. It has two push tugs and the tug Mason Andrews, which is a 62 foot 1,000 HP model bow that does a variety of inland work. The company s primary base of business exists in the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays and their tributaries. Norfolk Tug pursues medium- to long-term partnerships, working with a variety of barge-loaded bulk cargoes. It provides tugs for the safe movement of fertilizer, coal, aggregate, petroleum and dredge products, as well as special project work involving multiple barge and tug tows. The company also provides tug service in and around the dry docks and shipyards and provides some limited assist service to a variety of towing companies.
