Stony Brook station is a small, quiet station tucked into the ground between Jackson and Green Street Stations.  It is another access point to the subway serving densely populated south Jamaica Plain.  With its adjacent seating, stone engraved poetry and proximity to a public green space, the station has a community park-like feel.   With 12 bicycle spaces, no car parking and side street access, this station is primarily used by pedestrians on their way into town or out to Forest Hills.  Like Green Street, it connects to only one bus route, the #48 which serves South and Centre Streets.

It's a little piece of history within Old Town: built in 1905, this station is one of the longest-standing in the area. Serving both Amtrak and the local VRE (Virginia Railway Express), it's referred to simply as the Alexandria Station to avoid being confused with Union Station in neighboring Washington, DC. Travelers on both rail carriers have several options to get to and from the station: the DASH and the Metrobus both provide service, as do taxis sitting in front of the building. The King Street Metro station, which is served by the blue and yellow lines, is also nearby.
