About Our Company Everything started about 4 years ago when I worked as a regional sales manager in Washington and Oregon for a company that did money wire transfers. Without previous warning, our company was bought out by a larger corporation who had their own sales team. As such, I was forced out of a job. I began to look for work in the same field, but after 8 months with no luck, I decided I needed a new course in life. One day, with my finances depleting and concerns for my family filling my mind, a friend took note of my worried state and suggested that I take a temporary position as a taxi driver. I was concerned about this as I had always had a steady income and was not sure I could support my family with this type of job. But the reality of life said I needed to do something quickly since my finances had been depleted. I decided to apply for a position with one of the larger taxi companies in town. I remember the owner had his doubts about me since I had never worked for the transportation industry before, but decided to take a chance on me anyway. Because of my economic situation, I had to give everything I had to make this position a successful one for me. I applied all of my sales skills to finding new ways to attract customers. Little by little, I was becoming more comfortable in my new position, being my own supervisor and achieving my weekly financial goals. In addition if I had an emergency or just needed a day off, I could take it without having to explain it to a manager. All of these ingredients combined to allow me to not only make the same amount of money as I had as a sales manager, but to set aside and build the capital needed to form a new transportation company and offer this new service to the Portland community. Proudly I present Americab, the fruit of my efforts, to the people who believed in me and helped me to realize my dreams. We are here to provide you with excellent transportation services today, and for many years to come.
