Burger Boat Company designs and builds custom motor yachts that range in size from 35 meters to 61 meters. Typically the company launches two or three yachts per year and has an additional four to six projects under construction. Prices of new Burger Yachts typically start at $3.5 million and can rise to more than $10 million. Burger Boat Company was founded in 1863 and is located in Manitowoc, Wis. The company produced its first welded steel yacht in 1938 and its first welded aluminum yacht in 1952. There are approximately 250 Burger Yachts in the world out of a total company production of just under 500 built since 1863. The company is headed by David Ross, a Chicago entrepreneur who took over the company in 1993 after it went bankrupt.
