Parla Presto's name promises that you'll learn to "speak soon" - speak Italian, that is. Owner Isabella Perricone also offers courses in Italian literature and culture.
Courses are eight to 12 weeks and are offered at every level. The business's motto is "just say it," so classes are conversational in style, and students are encouraged to start talking and make mistakes as they go.
Offering classes in Jamaica Plain since 1676, the Eliot School can not only teach you how to make your own furniture, you can learn how to upholster it, sew a quilt, make a matching rug and then photograph it all in your home.
The Eliot School is focused on the "manual arts" and preserving artforms such as woodworking, sewing and painting while offering students the chance to "satisfy their desire to create." Classes and workshops are offered daily and for all ages in a charming building from 1831 featuring a woodshop, sewing room and arts room.
