Established in 1972, the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority serves more than 26,000 electric, over 17,000 water and nearly 13,000 wastewater customers in Fort Pierce and portions of St. Lucie County in Florida. It also serves approximately 4,200 natural gas customers. The authority operates power generation, water operations, water resources, fiber optics and communications, and administrative and service departments. The Fort Pierce Utilities Authority also administers an electric engineering department that is responsible for the engineering, designing, permitting, inspection and construction management of power generation, electric transmission and distribution systems. Its gas operations department supplies natural gas for residential and commercial customers for cooking and heating. The authority provides Internet, outdoor lighting and gas generator installation services. The Fort Pierce Utilities Authority is governed by its own board of directors who are appointed by the City Commission of the city of Fort Pierce in Florida.

What is Gateway Services CDD? Gateway Services is a Community Development District ( CDD ) which is a governmental unit created to serve the long-term specific needs of its community. Created pursuant to chapter 190 of the Florida Statutes, a CDDs main powers are to plan, finance, construct, operate and maintain community-wide infrastructure and services specifically for the benefit of its residents. In the GSCDD some of our responsibilities include storm water management, potable and irrigation water supply, sewer and wastewater management, and street lights. We also oversee and maintain some of the recreational areas such as the pool, soccer fields and common areas. Who Governs Gateway Services CDD A CDD is governed by its Board of Supervisors. Like all municipal, county, state, and national elections, the Office of the Supervisor of Elections oversees the vote, and CDD Supervisors are subject to state ethics and financial disclosure laws. Gateway Services District is managed by a team who specializes in Customer Care, Operations, Project Management, utilities and maintenance. They keep the water flowing, maintain the recreation areas, keep the pool safe and clean and take care of all of the Districts needs. There are several benefits, one is the CDD complements the responsibilities of community homeowners associations ( HOAs ).
