The Meriden Humane Society is the city's no-kill animal shelter. It shares a fast-moving, barking, mewing building with Meriden's Animal Control, tucked away on Murdock Avenue on the east side of town. The society relies wholly on private contributions, running independent of state or city funding. Cats and dogs are available for adoption for a fee to those who are screened. Dog adoption fees run from $250 - $350 and cat adoptions cost $25 - $75. Donations of linens, pet and cleaning supplies are requested. Volunteer dog-walkers are also in need.

"You're not here for a long time, just a Quality Time." Wilcox Technical School graduate, Paul Vumbaco opened the bar eight years ago in hopes of bringing back great pub food and entertainment to the Meriden bar scene. It is very active within the community and hosts numerous charity events throughout the year, including the ever popular St Baldrick's Fundraiser. The pub is known for its happy hour, hot wings, steamed cheeseburgers, hot dogs and delicious lunch specials.
