St. Matthew the Apostle School is a Roman Catholic parochial elementary education institution that serves students in pre-kindergarten through grade eight. The school, established in 1960, provides Catholic-based education for children. It is accredited by the Louisiana Department of Education, Archdiocese of New Orleans, as well as SACS/CASI. St. Matthew the Apostle School enrolls more than 550 student and has a staff of over 150 teachers. The school s academic curriculum includes language arts, math, science, social studies and computer technology. It conducts religion and physical education classes. St. Matthew the Apostle School organizes Spanish learning sessions for individuals. Its extracurricular activities include field trips and outings. The school also operates a student council. St. Matthew the Apostle School offers transportation services through the Jefferson Parish Transportation Department.
