Stamford Hospital is a non-profit community teaching hospital that serves the entire city and its surrounding communities. Founded in 1896, Stamford Hospital's Main Campus provides 305 inpatient beds in medicine, surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, psychiatry and medical and surgical critical care units. More than 550 doctors are currently affiliated with the hospital. Stamford Hospital provides signature services via 13 specialty centers: The Carl and Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center, the Children's Specialty Center, the Cyberknife Center, the Center for Integrative Medicine & Wellness, the Center for Robotic Surgery, the Diabetes & Endocrine Center, Endoscopy Center, Infectious Diseases, Pulmonary Medicine, the Center for Sleep Medicine, the Vaccine Center, the Women's Breast Center and the Wound Care Center. The Main Campus is also equipped with an Emergency Department, which handles life-threatening injuries 24 hours a day, as well as a Critical Care Unit, Stroke Center and Trauma Services. And as a Planetree Hospital, Stamford Hospital is committed to patient-centered care by offering pastoral and pallative care, case management, nutritional counseling, hospice and social services.
