Tavern Square is the area bordered by Cameron, King, Pitt and Royal Streets and is adjacent to Market Square on King Street where Alexandria's City Hall is located. Tavern Square was named for historic Gadsby's Tavern, now a restaurant, located at the corner of Cameron and Royal. However, the square is still home to a popular tavern: Pat Troy's Restaurant and Pub on Pitt Street, which opens into the Tavern Square courtyard and is an Old Town favorite especially to locals who appreciate the outdoor seating and dog-friendly atmosphere.
