In 1997 the Elizabeth R. Raphael Founders Prize Exhibition was established. This major international juried exhibition offers a $5, 000 prize as well as SCCs purchase of the winning piece for our permanent collection. This opportunity is funded by the daughters of Elizabeth R. Raphael, the founder of SCC and a nationally known figure in the contemporary art scene for many decades. First presented in 1988, the Bridge Exhibition Series was established to heighten the publics awareness of the powerful work being produced by contemporary artists. This invitational exhibition showcases three concurrent solo exhibitions by mid-career artists. The SCC strives to engage visitors in the creative process through contemporary craft and design. Therefore, interpretive programs, lectures, performances and weekend activities are offered in conjunction with each exhibition. SCC charges no admission and is open Monday through Saturday, 9 am - 5 pm. Experience the changing exhibitions at SCCs Satellite Gallery, located in the Steel Plaza T-Station Lobby at One Mellon Bank Center, one of the most accessible public spaces in the city of Pittsburgh. The Satellite Gallery is open daily through midnight.
