James Lumber Center For the Performing Arts About

The James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts is a community theatre located on the College of Lake County Campus in Grayslake. The Center is home to a wide variety of entertainment acts from musical performances to live theatre shows to specialty performances. The facilities include the600-seatMainstage Theatre, the250-seatStudio Theatre, the400-seatC005 Auditorium and three conference rooms for smaller meetings. Among the highlights from the first 10 seasons are jazz legend Maynard Ferguson, blues singer Koko Taylor, the Second City National Touring Company, gospel artist Richard Smallwood, country music stars BR5-49, trumpeter Arturo Sandoval and the River North Chicago Dance Company. The Performing Arts Building at the College of Lake County was officially renamed to the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts in 2003 to recognize the founding trustee, James Lumber. He served on the College of Lake County Board for over 35 years.
