Give the gift of music. A new term for kids or adults, beginners through artist level, begins seasonally; call for details. Registration is open for piano and guitar lessons.

Classes are taught by an educated performance faculty as well as nationally-certified director and artist Kathleen Cizewski.

As director/founder of Kathi's School of Music, Cizewski is a pianist, organist, instructor, author and arranger. Also, in addition to a lifetime work in church music ministry, she is a  30+ year music instructor at the College of Lake County and former Harper College instructor.

The James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts is a community theatre located on the College of Lake County Campus in Grayslake.

The Center is home to a wide variety of entertainment acts from musical performances to live theatre shows to specialty performances.  The facilities include the 600-seat Mainstage Theatre, the 250-seat Studio Theatre, the 400-seat C005 Auditorium and three conference rooms for smaller meetings.

Among the highlights from the first 10 seasons are jazz legend Maynard Ferguson, blues singer Koko Taylor, the Second City National Touring Company, gospel artist Richard Smallwood, country music stars BR5-49, trumpeter Arturo Sandoval and the River North Chicago Dance Company.

The Performing Arts Building at the College of Lake County was officially renamed to the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts in 2003 to recognize the founding trustee, James Lumber. He served on the College of Lake County Board for over 35 years.
