Kettering Police Department is responsible for police patrol, criminal investigation, crime prevention and animal control in the city of Kettering, Ohio. The department operates through several programs, such as community-oriented policing, neighborhood watch, rape aggression defense, alarms and chaplaincy. It also offers the citizens police academy program, a 10-week program during which residents meet weekly to learn about the police department and get hands-on experience in firing range and investigation techniques. Kettering Police Department is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
