The Knights of Columbus were founded on March 29, 1882 in Connecticut when the state legislature officially approved the group's charter as a fraternal benefit society. The organization was formed to provide financial assistance to members and their families. That is still the group's guiding principle. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. The East Northport hall is available for rental for both members and non-members.
