LaGuardia Airport is one of New York City’s main airports located in the borough of Queens. LGA Airport in 2012 saw almost 26 million passengers. LaGuardia does not offer international or transcontinental flights due to a perimeter rule. Originally known as Glenn Hammond Curtiss Airport it was eventually renamed North Beach Airport, then in 1953 New York City took over and renamed it LaGuardia Airport after then mayor Fiorello La Guardia.
Located right off the Grand Central Parkway (I-278) LaGuardia Airport is easily accessible with parking options consisting of short-term, long-term, restricted mobility and reserved parking is available. These options include: P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6 and P7 lots.
LaGuardia Airport consists of 4 terminals (A, B, C, D) which are walkways and buses. Interesting fact is Delta Air Lines operates three of the terminals while the Port Authority operates the other terminal.
Over 20 airlines fly in and out of LaGuardia Airport serving many domestic destinations. All four terminals have a distinct variety of dining options, retail shops and services including a dentist office in Terminal B. Ground Transportation at LaGuardia varies from bus, taxi, limousine, car rental, and van service. Additionally, one can purchase a ticket online for $13 to ride the NYC Airporter with destinations of Penn Station and Grand Central Station.
