Jacksonville Pre-Trial Detention Facility implements correctional practices and provides treatment and educational programs for those incarcerated within the facility with skills and abilities that can help them to become productive citizens in the community. The facility is a part of the Department of Corrections governed by the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office. The department provides educational services for adult inmates who have not obtained their high school diplomas. It organizes substance abuse education classes for adults. Through a partnership with the Planned Parenthood, the department gives education and answers questions about human sexuality issues and parenting skills, with the purpose of preventing sexually transmitted diseases and improving knowledge in this area.
